Mumbai: Man Attacked by Wife’s Friend with Sharp Weapon in Bhandup, Accused Arrested

A shocking incident of a brutal assault has come to light from the Bhandup area of Mumbai, where a man was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon by his wife’s friend following a dispute over their relationship. The victim, identified as Sachin (46), sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at KEM Hospital. Police have stated that his condition is stable.

In connection with the case, the Bhandup Police have arrested the accused, identified as Gharge (36), and registered a case against him under sections including attempt to murder. Following his arrest, the court remanded him to police custody.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 17, at around 10:45 pm in the Tembhipada area of Bhandup. Sachin, who works as a security guard, resides in the same locality with his family. The accused Gharge is also a resident of the area, and both were known to each other.

According to the police, Sachin’s wife shared a friendly relationship with the accused, and the two were frequently in contact. On the day of the incident, Sachin’s wife was not at home, prompting him to search for her. Later that night, he went to Gharge’s residence, where he found his wife present. This led to a confrontation, during which Sachin questioned both his wife and the accused, resulting in a heated verbal argument.

Enraged by the confrontation, Gharge allegedly attacked Sachin with a sharp weapon, inflicting severe injuries to his head and hand. Local residents, upon noticing the incident, rushed the injured man to KEM Hospital for immediate medical attention.

Upon receiving information, Bhandup Police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Based on Sachin’s statement, the sequence of events was established, following which a case was registered against the accused. Gharge was subsequently arrested and produced before the court on Wednesday afternoon, which remanded him to police custody.
