Mumbai Metro 4 Slab Collapse: Aaditya Thackeray Questions Maharashtra Govt Over Mulund Incident

A slab of under-construction metro line 4 fell onto vehicles on LBS Marg in Mulund West, leaving one person dead and other three injured. Shocking visuals of this incident is all over the internet leaving everyone in concern about their safety. According to reports,  autorickshaw driver and a woman said to have been trapped under the debris after the slab fell directly onto passing cars and an autorickshaw. Shiv Sena UBT leader, Aaditya Thackeray took X and slammed govt for the repeated infrastructure failures.

Aaditya Thackeray addressed the recent slab collapse issue and said earlier  a wall had collapsed and the then newly inaugurated metro line 3 had flooded with rain water last year. He said, Will the regime blacklist this contractor? Not likely- may be it’ll show a penalty of a few lakhs and let the contractor get more tenders. If you notice, pillars are already painted- before the work was completed. This will cost the State some crores- and then once work is finished, crores again to do them up. ". 

"Even today, most infrastructure works have terrible barricading that either lead to traffic jams or vehicles falling into open pits. Life has NO value under the bjp regime. Falling pieces from metro lines, unsafe modes of transport, cars/ bikes falling into open pits with no help for hours. What a shame! Soon a day will come when countries will issue travel warnings for such things in our country too," He added.

Videos from the site depicted a crushed car and an autorickshaw buried under a slab. The injured and bloodied rickshaw driver was pulled from the debris as rescue teams arrived. Traffic was severely disrupted on the busy road, and the injured were taken to a nearby hospital; their condition remains unknown.

MMRDA tweeted on X and said, this tragic incident occurred around 12.15 pm near Pier P196 of the Metro Line construction works in the Rajiv (Milan) stretch, close to the Mulund Fire Station. According to the authority, a portion of a parapet segment fell from a height and struck a passing autorickshaw.

MMRDA reported that two individuals were injured and promptly hospitalized; their condition is being monitored. The metro project team is on-site, conducting relief operations and securing the area with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and disaster management authorities.
