Mumbai Metro Line 2B Update: Chembur Station Likely To Open in April 2026, Check Details Inside
A key station on Mumbai Metro Line 2B which is likely to open for public in April 2026 will bring big relief for East Mumbaikars. According to reports, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is likely to open the Chembur Metro station of Line 2B in April. This decision has been taken to assess commuter response and improve connectivity at an early stage. Metro line 2B is 23.64 km long and will boost east-west connectivity. It will be important for Mumbaikars as the major traffic issue will be solved.
This will bring great relief to the passengers of this area. Mumbai Metro Line 2B (Yellow Line), which directly connects D.N. Nagar in Andheri West to Mandalay station in Mankhurd East. Mumbai Metro Line 2B will be started in a total of 3 phases. The first phase will be from Diamond Garden to Mandala, the second phase from Diamond Garden to Saraswat Nagar and the third and final phase from Saraswat Nagar to Andheri West. The last part of this first phase is Chembur Metro station. In the last phase, Metro 2B will be connected to Metro Line 2A.

The stations on this line will be ESIC Nagar, Prem Nagar, Indira Nagar, Nanavati Hospital, Kheera Nagar, Saraswat Nagar, National College, Bandra Metro, Income Tax Department Office, ILFS, MTNL Metro, Barve Marg, Kurla East, East Expressway, Chembur, Diamond Garden, Shivaji Chowk, BSNL Metro, Mankhurd, and Mandla Metro.

When Metro 2 B will be operational?
The first phase of Metro 2B is almost complete. The process of obtaining safety certification for this line is underway. The entire line is expected to be operational between 2026 and 2027. Once operational, the line will directly connect DN Nagar to Metro Line 1, Bandra Kurla Complex to Metro Line 3, and DN Nagar to Metro Line 2. It will also be possible to travel directly by monorail from Chembur station and Mumbai local trains from Bandra, Kurla, and Mankhurd stations.
