Mumbai Metro Timetable Updated Ahead of Lines 9 & 2B Rollout; Check Timings and New Schedule Here

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority on Monday unveiled a revised and commuter-focused timetable for Mumbai Metro Lines 9 and 2B ahead of their official rollout on Tuesday. As per the announcement, the updated schedule will be implemented from April 8, 2026, with the objective of making metro journeys quicker, more efficient, and easier to plan. Two fresh corridors—Mumbai Metro Line 9 and Mumbai Metro Line 2B—will commence services on the same day. Notably, Line 9 will become the first metro route serving Thane district, while Line 2B will significantly strengthen connectivity across Harbour Line localities, including Chembur.

With the expansion of the network, Mumbai Metro Line 7 will now be linked with Line 9, enabling seamless travel between Andheri East and Kashigaon in Mira-Bhayandar. At the same time, Mumbai Metro Line 2A and Line 7 will function independently as separate corridors, a move aimed at enhancing operational performance. The newly designed timetable prioritises shorter waiting durations and a more comfortable commuting experience. During peak hours, trains will arrive approximately every 5.5 to 6 minutes, while in non-peak periods, the interval will range between 8 and 10 minutes. Authorities added that the increase in total trips across routes is expected to handle rising passenger volumes and ease congestion effectively.

The service blueprint for each corridor has also been outlined in detail. Line 2A, connecting Andheri West to Dahisar East, will operate independently with improved punctuality, starting early in the morning and continuing till late night. Meanwhile, the integrated Line 7 and Line 9 corridor will stretch from Gundavali to Kashigaon, covering a distance of 19.79 km and offering faster suburban connectivity. In addition, Line 2B (Phase 1) will link Mandale to Diamond Garden across a 5.38 km stretch, enhancing east-west travel in eastern Mumbai. Commuters will also benefit from a smooth interchange at Dahisar station between Line 2A and Line 7 without exiting the paid zone, ensuring hassle-free transfers. Officials stated that these updates are designed to deliver dependable services, streamline travel patterns, and distribute passenger load evenly. Metropolitan Commissioner and Maha Mumbai Metro Chairman Dr Sanjay Mukherjee described the initiative as a significant stride towards creating a fully integrated metro system and improving everyday commuting for citizens.
