Mumbai: Minor Girl Allegedly Gang-Raped by Two Men on Pretext of Ration Card Help; Both Arrested
In a disturbing incident reported from Mumbai, a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by two men who lured her under the false pretext of helping her obtain a ration card. Following the victim’s complaint, the police have arrested both accused.
Due to the sensitivity of the case and strict legal provisions regarding the protection of minors, the identities of the victim and the accused have been withheld by the authorities.
According to police source, the victim was seeking assistance for documentation related to her ration card. During this process, she came in contact with the two men, who posed as social workers and promised to facilitate the paperwork for her.
Taking advantage of the trust built during their interactions, the accused called the victim to a specific location under the guise of completing the necessary formalities. Instead, they took her to a forested area near Link Road, where they subjected her to sexual assault.
Distressed by the incident, the survivor immediately reported the ordeal to her family. The family promptly approached the local police station and filed a formal complaint. Acting with urgency, the police launched a manhunt and apprehended both suspects shortly thereafter.
A case has been registered under stringent sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
"We have taken both accused into custody and are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the complete sequence of events and verify if there are any other accomplices involved," a senior police official stated.
"Necessary medical attention and legal counseling are being provided to the survivor as per protocol."
The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities have assured that the case will be fast-tracked to ensure justice for the victim.
