In a shocking incident, a 39-year-old man was brutally murdered after being shot at and attacked with sharp weapons on a busy road in Kurla West late on April 29. A case has been registered at Vinoba Bhave Nagar Police Station, and police have arrested three accused in connection with the crime.

The arrested accused have been identified as Abhijit Kishore Jadhav, Dinesh Pawar and Shubham Gadge.

The deceased, identified as Baba Malappa Pawar (39), was a resident of Makadwala Compound, Halav Pool, Kurla West, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India and worked on a municipal garbage collection vehicle.

According to the complaint, at around 10:17 pm on April 29, complainant Raju Malappa Pawar received a phone call from his uncle informing him that Baba Pawar had been shot near Block No. 3 road. When he rushed to the spot, he found his brother lying in a pool of blood.

Relatives and locals immediately rushed him to Bhabha Hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead before treatment could begin.

Police said that on April 23, Baba Pawar’s nephew Shekhar Vijay Pawar had an altercation with the accused. The complainant suspects that the murder was carried out as revenge over that dispute.

At the time of the attack, Baba Pawar was returning home on a vehicle with his friend Madhav Shankar Gadge when the accused allegedly intercepted them, opened fire, and assaulted him with sharp weapons.

Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and the Arms Act, 1959. Further investigation is being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Dnyaneshwar Palange.
