In a special operation launched to improve traffic discipline in the city, the Mumbai Traffic Police have collected fines amounting to ₹7.72 crore over the past one month.

The drive was conducted across Mumbai between March 12 and April 8, 2026, targeting motorists violating key traffic rules. Strict action was taken particularly against serious offences such as wrong-side driving, signal jumping, and entering no-entry zones, which are considered major contributors to road accidents.

According to official data, fines worth ₹55.47 lakh were collected from 3,698 cases of wrong-side driving. In 47,459 cases of signal jumping, penalties totaling ₹4.65 crore were imposed. Additionally, 22,650 cases of no-entry violations led to fines amounting to ₹2.70 crore. The combined total from these actions exceeds ₹7.72 crore.

The Mumbai Traffic Police have urged citizens to follow traffic rules strictly, emphasizing that road safety is a shared responsibility. Adhering to regulations can help prevent accidents and ensure smoother traffic flow in the city.

Officials also warned that such special drives will continue in the future, and stricter action will be taken against violators. Motorists have been advised to comply with traffic rules and ensure safe travel.
