The Mumbai Traffic Police have issued detailed traffic advisories and restrictions ahead of Hanuman Jayanti celebrations on April 2, 2026, anticipating large religious gatherings and processions across the city. In the Western Suburbs, a major procession from Hanuman Temple, Vakola, is expected to witness participation from 8,000 to 10,000 devotees. The procession will pass through Vakola Junction, Nehru Road, Golibar Road, Abdul Hakim Chowk, and Khar Subway before returning. Authorities have cautioned that narrow roads and ongoing work, especially on Golibar Road, may lead to heavy congestion.

To maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure public safety, officials have announced temporary road closures and diversions across key routes.

Traffic Restrictions and Diversions in Western Suburbs:

  • The stretch from Vakola Junction – Santacruz East Railway Station – Khar Subway will remain closed to all vehicular traffic on April 2, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 12:00 midnight.

  • Large crowds and the procession movement are expected to significantly impact traffic along Nehru Road and Golibar Road.

  • Motorists traveling via Khar Subway are advised to avoid the route during restricted hours.

  • Alternate routes: Commuters should use Milan Subway or Milan Flyover to bypass the affected stretch.

  • Traffic Police personnel will be deployed to guide vehicles and manage diversions in real time.

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Suburbs under the Sakinaka Traffic Division, separate restrictions have been imposed near Shri Maruti Temple on the JVLR service road (southbound), near Laxmi Hotel, where a large number of devotees are expected.

Traffic Restrictions and Diversions in Eastern Suburbs (Sakinaka):

  • Entry of all vehicles (except emergency services) will be prohibited on Adi Shankaracharya Marg (JVLR service road, southbound) near the temple.

  • Restrictions will be in effect from 9:00 PM on April 1 to 10:00 AM on April 2, 2026.

  • No parking will be allowed along the affected stretch during this period.

  • Diversion: Vehicles will be redirected to continue via the main JVLR southbound road.

Officials stated that these measures are essential to prevent congestion, ensure safety, and facilitate smooth movement of devotees during the festival. The Mumbai Traffic Police have urged citizens to plan their travel in advance, follow designated alternate routes, and cooperate with authorities to avoid inconvenience.
