Mumbai's Western Express Highway (WEH) has become a commuter's nightmare, with a 2-kilometer stretch requiring a gruelling 2 hours to complete on Wednesday afternoon. Residents and regular commuters have been venting their concerns on social media, moaning about the highway's extreme congestion. As the city grapples with infrastructure issues, commuters can only hope that traffic authorities will take proactive efforts to prevent such scenarios in the future.

The beginning of the Aarey Flyover and VLR Flyover on the WEH northbound lane has been clogged for more than 2 hours, with a 2-kilometer-long wait of vehicles. A broken-down truck outside Mogra Metro Station in Jogeshwari has compounded the situation, bringing the WEH northbound lane to a standstill. A user on X posted, “@MTPHereToHelp truck has broken down at Mogra Metro Station Jogeshwari WEH northbound.” To his post the Mumbai Traffic Police replied, “Your call has been reported to Wireless. Traffic will return to normal short.”

Another X user posted, “@MTPHereToHelp WEH jam from Andheri till Malad towards north please look into it.” The Mumbai Traffic Police gave him the same reply.

These users posted their tweets in the late afternoon around 4:00 pm. In the Morning, around 11 am, another user had posted about being stuck in the traffic jam for a long time. He also said that it costs people a lot of fuel and time. He wrote, “Our country imports 88% of fuel. A lot of it is burned waiting in traffic. This is Western Express Highway. Very slow and frequent full stops. @MTPHereToHelp kindly improve traffic flow.”

The officials gave him the same reply.

Commuters have taken to social media to vent their dissatisfaction with the lack of adequate traffic management. Many people have criticised the traffic authorities for not acting quickly to alleviate the congestion. The Mumbai traffic department has responded to each complaint, noting that their concerns have been forwarded wirelessly to the appropriate authorities.
