Mumbai Woman Biker Alleges Stalking Near Marine Drive At 3 AM, Claims Man Followed Her Repeatedly; Video Sparks Outrage

A woman biker’s viral social media video alleging that she was stalked near Mumbai’s Marine Drive during the early hours of the morning has reignited concerns about women’s safety in the city. The clip, uploaded on Instagram by user alka.fit and reportedly recorded around 3 am, has been widely circulated online, drawing strong reactions from viewers. In the video, the woman claims an unidentified man riding a scooter repeatedly followed her while she was travelling near Marine Drive. The footage includes text overlays describing the fear and uneasiness she experienced during the alleged encounter, which she says continued for several tense minutes on the road.

According to the woman biker, the man initially appeared while she was passing through the Marine Drive area before allegedly taking a U-turn and positioning his scooter directly ahead of her motorcycle. She claimed that despite the traffic signal turning green, the man remained in place and continued staring at her, making her feel increasingly unsafe. The video reportedly captures the man circling around her and repeatedly observing her movements. The woman further alleged that the repeated actions and close presence of the scooter rider created an atmosphere of intimidation, leaving her anxious while she continued riding through the area during the late-night hours.

In another section of the viral clip, the woman alleged that the man later parked his scooter nearby and stood behind her while continuously watching her from a distance. “I feel so uncomfortable. I can’t even explain it,” one of the captions in the clip reads. The footage reportedly shows the man remaining in the vicinity as the woman keeps recording the incident on her phone. The video has since sparked widespread discussion online, with several users saying the incident highlights the vulnerability women can face while travelling alone at night, even in Mumbai, which is often regarded as one of India’s comparatively safer metropolitan cities for women.

The viral video triggered outrage across social media platforms, with many users expressing concern and anger over the alleged incident. Several people advised the woman to carry safety tools or emergency items while travelling late at night, while others stressed the importance of immediately informing local police or emergency helplines in such situations. Some social media users praised the woman for documenting the encounter and sharing her experience publicly to raise awareness about women’s safety issues. A user commented, "Dial numbers for emergency & safety… 103 (Nirbhaya Squad), 1091/118 (All India Women helpline) 100/112 (Mumbai Police Emergency) Ride hard, live free, and own your journey…. Be safe.." Another user wrote, "Utarkr thappd maar dena chahiye tha chapari log. (You should have got down and slapped him)"

A third user tagged Mumbai Police and commented, "@mumbaipolice hope this video reaches you. Thank you for sharing this. This needs to be get highlighted @alka.fit Be Careful and Ride safe." Meanwhile, Mumbai Police have not yet released any official statement regarding the viral video, nor confirmed whether any formal complaint has been filed in connection with the alleged stalking incident.
