Tragic Incident in Mumbai: 5 Workers Die of Suffocation in Under-Construction Building Water Tank
In a heartbreaking incident on Sunday, five contract workers tragically lost their lives due to suffocation while cleaning a water tank at an under-construction building in Mumbai's Nagpada area. The incident occurred around 12:29 pm at the Bismillaha Space Building, located near Good Luck Motor Training School on Dimtimkar Road.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the workers were cleaning the water tank when they encountered dangerous conditions inside, leading to suffocation. Local authorities were immediately alerted, and the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) rushed to the scene to rescue the workers.
Despite their best efforts, five individuals could not be saved and were rushed to JJ Hospital, where doctors declared them dead upon arrival. Rescue operations were swiftly carried out, but the workers, unfortunately, could not survive the incident. The incident has raised concerns about worker safety in Mumbai's rapidly expanding construction industry, especially in areas like Nagpada, where numerous developments are ongoing.
