Two separate electrocution incidents in Vasai Taluka claimed the lives of two young men aged 20 within a span of just 24 hours, leaving local residents shocked and saddened. Police officials confirmed that accidental death cases have been registered at the concerned police stations, and investigations into both incidents are underway. The tragedies occurred in different parts of the taluka and involved contact with high-voltage electricity during work-related activities. Authorities are also examining whether adequate safety precautions were in place at the locations where the mishaps occurred. Both victims were rushed to hospitals after the accidents but could not survive due to the severity of their injuries.
The first fatal accident occurred on Thursday evening at around 7:30 pm in the Pelhar area of Nalasopara East. The deceased, identified as Deva Sames Gautam, was employed as a welder at a fabrication unit named Naman Industries, Proxima Ltd., situated near Sopara Phata. According to preliminary information, Deva was carrying out steel welding work at the company premises when he suddenly came in contact with a powerful electric current. Fellow workers immediately shifted him to the nearby Galaxy Hospital for emergency treatment. However, doctors examined him and declared him dead before he could be admitted for further medical care at the facility.
Another heartbreaking incident took place on Friday afternoon around noon in the Sasunavghar area of Naigaon East. The victim, Abhay Rakesh Tiwari, was part of a group of workers removing an iron banner positioned outside the Girnar Hotel. During the process, the metal structure accidentally touched an overhead high-voltage electricity wire, causing a massive electric shock. Abhay suffered critical burn and shock injuries in the accident. He was quickly transported to Gurukrupa Hospital in Mira Road, where doctors began treatment immediately. Despite medical efforts to save him, Abhay later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
