Nagpur, July 1

With the intention of getting rid of the long queues in the RTO office premises for learning licence and to reduce the hassle of the drivers, the transport department had recently started the online licence service. Under this scheme, any driver would no longer need to visit RTO offices to get a learning licence. To get the learning licence, now one needs to apply for a new licence by visiting the transport department website and enter the Aadhaar details. As soon as Aadhaar was linked, all the documents of the concerned driver would be available to the RTO officer. Due to which there was no need to give any separate document by the licencee.

After applying for licence online, the licencee had to pay the fees of learning licence online. After this, an online test of 15 questions was taken and those who scored more than 75% marks in it were immediately issued licence online. Although this was a good system, due to digital payments, it has become a problem. Many have paid through mobile app or UPI, their payments has not been reflected in the system. Many licence applicants are unable to take the online exam due to non-payment of fees. Complaints have also been made to RTO offices in this regard.

But as it is connected to the server, the department could not do anything and has take up with their IT department. Now the aspirants will be able to get licence online only after the issue is resolved. But according to the department’s claim, the idea of getting a learning licence in a day has gone for a toss for the time being.

Fixing server problems

Online licence is getting good response from the citizens. But suddenly there are some problem in this system. Complaints are being received continuously regarding digital payments. We have informed the concerned department about this. Till then, we regret the inconvenience caused to the citizens.
