During the visit, sports officer Anil Borawar, Nishant Patil, Tehsildar Ganesh Jagdale, and Chief Officer of Koradi Sansthan Pravin Likhitkar were also present.
As per the state sports policy, these kabaddi tournaments are organised every year by the Sports Department of the Government of Maharashtra. This year, the Vidarbha Kabaddi Association had expressed its desire to host the event at Koradi, and Sanket Bawankule, President of the Nagpur District Rural Kabaddi Association, supported the proposal and finalized Sevanand High School ground as the venue. The Sports Department is ensuring that there are no shortcomings in the arrangements. The District Collector emphasized that complete cleanliness of the premises must be maintained.
Considering the rising heat, guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has directed that proper arrangements be made for the comfort of both players and spectators. Accordingly, the organisers and the sports department have decided to conduct the matches in the evening after the heat subsides. A total of four mat-based courts are being set up at the venue. The district collector instructed the organizing committee to ensure proper engineering standards and maintenance of these grounds. He also directed that adequate lighting and necessary security arrangements be in place, especially for night matches.
Arrangements are also being made for refreshments for spectators, with various stalls to be set up by women’s self-help groups. A total of 32 teams (16 men’s and 16 women’s teams) from across the state will participate in the tournament. Accommodation for all players has been arranged at the MLA Hostel, along with special transportation facilities.
