Dist senior athletics meet on May 21, 22
The championship, meant for men and women in the open category, will also serve as the selection trial for the district team that will participate in the State Senior Athletics Championship scheduled to be held in Pune from May 29 to June 2, 2026.
The competition will include 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, and 10,000m races; 100m and 110m hurdles; 400m hurdles; 3000m steeplechase; Long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault; Shot put, discus throw, hammer throw, javelin throw; 20 km walk; Decathlon and heptathlon;
4x100m and 4x400.
Schools, colleges, and clubs must send their entries to entryndaanag@gmail.com before May 18, 2026. Bib numbers will be distributed to participants on May 20 between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
A maximum of six athletes from one school, college, or club will be allowed in each event.
Players must submit a valid district association identity card or a birth certificate issued by a Gram Panchayat, Municipality, or Municipal Corporation along with a self-attested copy of their Aadhaar card at the time of entry.
A selection committee headed by Jitendra Ghordadekar has been formed to select the district team for the state championship. The committee members include Shiv Chhatrapati award-winning former international medalist sprinter Rohini Raut, Kamlesh Hinge, Shamsher Khan and Ramchandra Wani.
All participants will receive online participation certificates. The top three athletes in each event will be awarded medals.
The men’s team championship trophy will be the “Lakhiram Malviya Memorial Cup.” The women’s team championship trophy will be the 'Chitra Pantawane Memorial Cup.' The overall championship winner will receive the 'B.B. Ghate Memorial Trophy.' The best male athlete will receive the “Ashok Sabne Cup.” The best female athlete will be honoured with the S.J. Anthony Cup.
An organizing committee under the chairmanship of international coach Ravindra Tong has been formed for the event. District association vice-president Shekhar Suryawanshi will serve as the convenor. Archana Kottewar of Prashant Vidyalaya, Vardhaman Nagar (Competition Coordinator) Ganesh Wani of Priyadarshini High School (Sports Equipment Manager). Dr. Sharad Suryawanshi will serve as the organising secretary.
