Nagpur, Oct 16

The Nigerian gang involved in cyber fraud used the SIM card issued on others name. They get the SIM card in only Rs 500 or Rs 1000 easily. As many as 11 mobile hand sets were recovered from their possessions. 22 SIM cards were used in it. All the SIM cards were issued to Indian names. The SIM card recovered from the accused Michel Kolai was issued in the name of a Mumbai resident while Michel did not know any one from Mumbai.

It may be mentioned here that Cyber Cell has nabbed Nigerian gang involved in cyber fraud. Sujit Tiwari, a resident of Delhi and four Nigerians of this gang have been arrested. He is in police custody till October 19. This gang used to trap people with fake Facebook or Instagram account. The gang used to cheat people in the name of job abroad, sell of Ayurvedic drugs, gift or lottery. The associates of Nigerian posed them as custom officer or the officer of other department to force victims to deposit money for getting the gift. When the victim checks the mobile number, it is revealed that it is from Delhi or Mumbai.

it does not allow apprehension to develop in the mind of the victim that the gift is being sent by foreign friend and a custom officer is calling him on phone to release it.

Nigerian accused were using Indian SIM for years. He has also confessed this in police interrogation. Due to terrorist incidents and increasing crime, those who have obtained the SIM card with a fake name have been banned to a great extent. But the ease with which the Nigerian accused have obtained the SIM cards is matter of grave concern. This SIM card can also be used in anti-national work. The most amazing thing in this is that this nexus is being operated from Delhi, the capital of the country. There is a lot of dubious information in the mobile of Nigerian accused besides fraud. They have removed it. The police is trying to acquire it by cloning of mobile.

Central investigation agencies Active

The Nigerian team was active in Delhi for a long time. In view of the shocking revelations coming from it, the Central investigating agencies have also come into action. They have also started investigation at their level. The accused are not giving passport information to the police. Possibly, they are living here illegally. Passport department has also been contacted in this regard.
