Team BB Colony emerge champion

Team RuiGanj performed exceptionally well and scored 1 goal and ended the first half with 1-0. Team BB Calony made their comeback with renewed strategy and energy and stunned the team RuiGanj with consecutive goals within 2 minutes of the second half. The score were level until BB Calony captain Mohammad Ubaid scored the decisive goal in the dying minute of the match and help his team emerge winner of the tournament by 2-1 goals.

Edukick Football Tournament was organized on 16th June 2021, in BB colony ground Kamptee, with the objective of providing children with an opportunity to participate in a competitive football and inculcate the passion to play. The tournament served to help children overcome trauma and stress by playing football together.

The tournament, played in 7-a-side format, saw enthusiastic participation of 6 teams (total 60 players) from 6 different communities of Kamptee viz: Sayeed Nagar, Warispura, Ruiganj , Ismailpura, Futalna Oli, and B.B. Colony who have been engaged in various activities of Slum Soccer’s Edukick initiative during the course of lockdown.

At the end of the league round, based on scores of the two matches each team played, Ruiganj A, B.B. Colony, Sayeed Nagar, and Warispura with their exceptional performance advanced to the semi finals.

Earlier Ruiganj defeated Warispura to enter the final of the tournament. Though both teams played entertaining football with raids and counter raids, neither teams scored in the first half. The second half was completely dominated by Ruiganj , who scored two goals towards the end of the match and became the first finalist.

In the second semi-final B.B. Colony came face to face with Sayeed Nagar. B.B colony scored first goal in the starting minute of the batch. Sayeed Nagar team couldn’t find their ball back of the net but still remained confident and persistent. B.B colony scored another goal and gave no time to Sayeed Nagar team to make their come back.

The ceremony was carried out in the august presence of Mohammad Tanveer who himself was a professional footballer spending his 20 years as striker for Rabbani club of Kamptee.
