Nashik Police Crack Down on Public Place Drinking: 95 Penalised in Special Operation in Special Operation
Acting on multiple complaints from residents, the Nashik Police conducted a special operation against drunkards consuming alcohol in public places and causing disturbances at night. The operation was carried out on February 12, 2025, between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM in open grounds, gardens, and trekking.
A total of 95 people were caught drinking in public and were penalized. The crackdown was conducted at multiple police station jurisdictions under Zone-1, and the number of offenders booked at each station.
Nashik Police have intensified their action against public drinking and nuisance after an incident early Sunday (9th) morning. Around 2:30 AM, Gangapur police received a call about a group of young men and women causing a ruckus at Prasad Circle, within the jurisdiction of the Gangapur police station.
Sub-Inspector Sharad Patil and his team responded to the scene, where they found the group disturbing the peace. When the police tried to intervene, the individuals refused to disclose their identities and began arguing. They then picked up stones and bricks from the road, threatening both the police and themselves.
As officers attempted to detain them, the group started pushing and shoving, obstructing government work. Two bouncers in the group also resisted. Based on Sub-Inspector Patil’s complaint, a case has been registered against six individuals at Gangapur police station with the permission of Police Inspector Jagvendra Singh Rajput.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to curbing such disturbances and maintaining law and order in the city.
This operation was carried out under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone-1, Kiran Kumar Chavan, and Sarkarwada Division’s Six Police Commissioners, Nitin Jadhav, along with officers from all concerned police stations. The crackdown was conducted under the guidance of Nashik Commissioner of Police, Sandip Karnik.
Police officials have stated that strict action will continue against troublemakers in Nashik, especially those involved in creating public nuisances, drinking in open spaces, and loitering.
