24-Year-Old Security Guard Found Hanging in Rented Room in South Delhi, Probe Underway

A 24-year-old security guard was found hanging in a rented room in south Delhi’s Asola village, police said on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Dileep Kumar Bairwa, a native of Karauli district in Rajasthan who had been working as a security guard in Delhi.

According to police, a PCR call was received at the Maidangarhi police station on Friday about a suspected suicide. The matter came to light after Bairwa’s brother-in-law tried contacting him but found his mobile phone switched off. The landlord, Harimohan, and his son then went to check on the room. When repeated knocks went unanswered and the door was found locked from inside, they forced it open. Inside, they discovered Bairwa hanging from the ceiling fan with a nylon rope.

Police teams reached the spot soon after being informed, and a crime team inspected the room to collect evidence. The body was later sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination. Officials said Bairwa had moved into the rented accommodation only about three days earlier. Preliminary investigation has not found any signs of foul play, and police suspect it to be a case of suicide, though further investigation is underway.
