Swami Shankar Das, an 83-year-old seer from Rishikesh, has donated Rs 1 crore for the construction of grand Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya. Swami Shankar Das has been living in the caves for the last 60 years. Speaking in this regard, Swami Shankar Das said that he has collected this money from the donations received by the devotees in the cave of his Guru Tat Wale Baba.

When Swami Shankar Das arrived at the main branch of State Bank of India in Rishikesh on Wednesday with a cheque for Rs 1 crore, the employees were in disbelief These employees then checked his accounts and found the amount there, RSS officials were then called to the bank to complete the process.

Swami Shankar Das Maharaj handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore to Sudama Singal, District Director of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. While handing over the cheque, Swami Shankar Das said that he was collecting the fund for Shri Ram Mandir since many years. 

Rishikesh head of RSS Sudama Singhal said, “We reached the bank after receiving information about Swami Shankar Das seeking to donate Rs 1 crore to the Ram Mandir trust. As he could not donate the money directly, he handed over a cheque to us and we gave him a receipt. Using the cheque, the bank manager will now submit the money in the trust’s account.”
