Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Monday, tested positive for coronavirus as per a Zee News report. Rupani , who had collapsed during a rally in Vadodara a day ago, was kept under observation in an Ahmedabad hospital for 24 hours. “[Gujarat] CM Vijay Rupani is in stable condition and will be under observation for 24 hours. All tests have been done but it is advised that he should take rest so that we will keep him under observation,” said Dr RK Patel of Ahmedabad’s UN Mehta Hospital.

BJP leader Bharat Danger told reporters that CM Rupani had been unwell for two days, but instead of canceling public meetings, he preferred to continue and addressed back to back rallies on Saturday and Sunday. Gujarat is among the worst-affected states due to the Covid-19 pandemic in India. Even as the state has been able to bring the daily Covid-19 count under 250, the total tally stands at 2.65 lakh with over 4400 deaths due to the deadly virus. On Sunday, the state health department said that it had only 1,739 active cases.
