After Viral MMS Leak, Minor Girl in Cachar Attempts Suicide As Videos of ‘Forced’ Sexual Acts Goes Viral
A 17-year-old schoolgirl from Assam’s Cachar district allegedly attempted suicide after explicit videos of her forced sexual acts with a 19-year-old youth were circulated on social media. The accused is alleged to have sexually exploited the minor, threatened her with acid attacks, and blackmailed her using secretly recorded videos.
According to the FIR filed by the girl’s family on Friday, the youth, who hails from the same region, reportedly threatened the girl that if she defied his orders, he will “scar her for life” with acid.Pressurising her psychologically, the suspect allegedly forced the girl into having sexual intercourse with him on multiple occasions and had even secretly filmed the act without her knowledge. Utilising the videos as tools to blackmail, the suspect demanded continued compliance from the girl, threatening to leak the recordings on social media, the FIR said.
However, the tipping point came, when the suspect allegedly uploaded explicit photos and videos of the girl on various social media platforms.“She has withdrawn from school and is in a state of profound psychological distress,” a family member said. Police said the suspect has been booked under multiple provisions of the BNS, including Section 64 for punishment for rape, Section 77 for sexual harassment, Section 79 for insulting the modesty of a woman, Section 308(3) for extortion by threat, and Section 351(2) for criminal intimidation and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. According to intelligence reports, the suspect is currently hiding in Bengaluru, while Cachar police is currently coordinating with interstate agencies and cybercrime units to track his digital footprints and arrest him.
