Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Election Results 2026: BJP Sweeps Key Wards in City, Congress Gets One

BJP has delivered a strong performance in the Ahmedabad local body elections 2026, securing victories across several wards and strengthening its position in the city. The party achieved a clean sweep in multiple areas, including Amraiwadi and Chandkheda.

In Bapunagar, three BJP candidates and one candidate from the Congress were elected. In Isanpur, BJP won all seats, leading to celebrations among party workers. The winning candidates said they would focus on infrastructure projects such as lake development and improving road conditions in the area. The BJP also retained its stronghold in Asarwa ward.

In Amraiwadi, the BJP secured a landslide victory, winning all seats in the ward. In the previous election, the Congress had won one seat, but this time the BJP captured it as well, marking a setback for the opposition. Winning candidates thanked voters and said they would prioritise pending development works and address local issues.

A significant shift was also seen in Chandkheda ward, where the BJP panel emerged victorious. Congress corporator Rajshree Kesari, who had served two terms, was defeated. BJP candidate Rita Patel said the result reflected public support for development, while Atul Mishra stated that voters had rejected what he described as “low-level politics”.

In Thaltej ward, the BJP registered another decisive win, with former Standing Committee chairman Hitesh Barot securing a clear victory. Party workers celebrated after the results were announced, attributing the win to public trust in development work carried out in the area.

The BJP also won in Gota and Jodhpur wards in the western part of the city and strengthened its hold in Isanpur. Following the results, newly elected representatives thanked voters and said they would work to meet public expectations and deliver on development commitments.

BJP candidate Devang Dani said, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party will once again come to power in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation with a clear majority."
