India on Saturday officially launched the much awaited Covid-19 vaccination drive under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, who was present at Delhi's AIIMS this morning for the rollout, says the vaccines are 'sanjivani' in the fight against Covid-19. Two Covid-19 vaccines have been approved by the Drug Control General of India (DCGI)’s approval for restricted emergency use. Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech are ready to supply vaccines for the first phase of the vaccination which will include frontline workers followed by people who are above 50 years old.

How to Register

For  vaccination process, the central government has introduced an application named CoWIN (Covid Vaccine Intelligence Work). This application is going to have five different modules- Administrator module, Registration module, Vaccination module, Beneficiary Acknowledgement module, and Report module. These modules are going to ensure that the registration and tracking of vaccination drive is done smoothly. First of all, the CoWin app is not functional yet. The application is currently in the pre-product stage. Currently, common people cannot register for the upcoming vaccine for the coronavirus pandemic as only officials have access to it for now. Once live, the CoWIN app or website will give three options for registration including self-registration, individual registration, and bulk upload.

Documents required to get COVID-19 vaccine

People will need to upload a photo identity in order to register. It can be an Aadhar Card, Driving License, PAN Card, and others. Following registration, the beneficiary will receive SMS messages on their registered mobile number. The 1st SMS that the person will get will be generated on confirmation of registration. The 2nd SMS will be generated mentioning the date, time and place of the vaccination. The 3rd SMS will be generated after 1st dose of vaccination  with due date of next vaccine. The SMS process is then followed by the completion of second dose along link for digital certificate. There will be no spot registration in any phase of priority group vaccination.
