The Uttarakhand government has announced compensation following a tragic bus accident in Bhimtal that left four people dead and 21 others injured on Wednesday. The state government will provide Rs 10 lakh to the families of those killed, Rs 3 lakh for the families of those seriously injured, and Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 for those with minor injuries.

The roadways bus, traveling from Bhimtal to Haldwani, was carrying 20 to 25 passengers when it fell into a deep gorge in the Bhimtal area of Nainital. A rescue team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) quickly reached the scene and assisted in rescuing the victims. The injured were transported to a nearby hospital for medical care.

SP Nainital, Dr. Jagdish Chandra, confirmed the details of the incident, saying, “A roadways bus was heading from Pithoragarh to Haldwani when the driver lost control, and the bus fell into a deep gorge. The injured were rescued with the help of locals. 21 people have been injured, and 4 have died.”
