Bihar education minister JDU leader Mewalal Choudhary three days after taking oath has resigned from the cabinet amid corruption allegations on Thursday.

The minister had to step down after the Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal flagged a three-year-old corruption case against him and questioned why he was inducted in the government.

A criminal case was filed against the JD(U) MLA from Tarapur back in 2017 after allegations that he was involved in irregularities in the appointments to posts of assistant professor and junior scientists as the vice-chancellor of Bhagalpur agriculture university.

Mewalal Choudhary responding to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s allegations, said, "The cases are currently underway in court of law and its decision will be universally accepted. Some people are accusing me without any reasons. No action has been initiated in any of the cases. I dismiss all the allegations levelled on me."
