Patna, May 11 A wave of grief has spread across parts of Bihar after two separate road accidents claimed the lives of four young men late Sunday night and early Monday.
In the Patna district, two youths lost their lives in a tragic accident near the Faridpura–Dariyapur bridge on the Naubatpur–Bikram Son Canal road under the Piplawan police station area late on Sunday night, around 11.30 pm.
The deceased have been identified as Megha Paswan (30) and Alok Kumar (28).
According to an official, both had gone to deliver food for a wedding in a nearby village and were returning home late at night when a speeding, unknown vehicle rammed into their motorcycle.
The impact was so severe that both were thrown off the bike and died on the spot.
The driver fled immediately after the incident.
Residents alerted the police, and the bodies were sent to AIIMS for post-mortem.
Station in-charge Sagar Kumar stated that CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined, and efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver.
The incident has left both families devastated, with villagers demanding the swift arrest of the errant driver and compensation for the victims’ families.
In another tragic incident on the Samastipur–Rosera road, two young men died after a speeding bus hit their motorcycle from behind near Bishanpur Chowk on Monday morning, around 12.45 a.m.
The deceased are identified as Kanhaiya Kumar and Mithun Kumar.
A third youth, Rakesh Kumar, sustained critical injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital.
All three had attended a wedding in Desua village and were returning home when the accident occurred.
According to family members, the bus struck their bike from behind with great force.
Police official Ajit Kumar confirmed that the bus has been seized, a case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.
These back-to-back incidents highlight ongoing concerns about rash and negligent driving, poor nighttime road safety, and a lack of enforcement on highways and rural roads of Bihar.
Both accidents have triggered anger among locals, who are demanding stricter traffic enforcement and accountability.
