Several private schools in Punjab's Mohali received bomb threat emails on Wednesday, triggering evacuation. Police deployed anti-sabotage teams and checked the school buildings. School authorities sent messages to parents, declaring a holiday.Manav Mangal School and Shivalik Public School were two of the schools which received the emails.Mohali police also conducted a search operation in various other schools. Although no suspicious items have been found by authorities so far, the security has been heavily tightened across the district. The Times of India also reported that the DSP Harsimran Singh Bal acknowledged that the schools were in danger and stated that they were closing the schools in order to conduct a search. The search operation is currently underway.

The latest scare comes close on the heels of similar incident in Delhi where several schools received a similar scare, via email on Monday morning. A total of ten schools were kept on alert since the bomb threat emails were received between 8:30 am and 9:00 am on 9 February, PTI reported. These threats triggered panic and massive security concerns as schools were evacuated as a precautionary measure.  Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said that emergency calls were received from multiple educational institutions across different parts of the city in the morning hours, following which fire tenders and bomb disposal teams were rushed to the locations.

The threatening email carried disturbing and provocative content, claiming, 'Delhi will become Khalistan. Punjab is Khalistan. In memory of Afzal Guru'.As a precautionary measure, the school premises were evacuated and students, and staff were moved to safe locations. Bomb detection and disposal squads, along with dog squads, conducted  extensive search operations at the affected schools. However, no suspicious object were recovered in  any of the school premises
