Chandigarh Mayor Election Result 2026: BJP Candidate Saurabh Joshi Elected As Mayor

BJP candidate  Saurabh Joshi has been elected as the Mayor of Chandigarh on Thursday, January 29, after voting for the Chandigarh Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, and Deputy Mayor was held. Joshi received 18 votes against 11 for the AAP candidate. The Congress's Gurpreet Singh Gabbi got seven votes, including the support of six councillors and one member of parliament.

The voting for Chandigarh Mayor was held under the supervision of presiding officer Ramneek Singh Bedi, who had issued a standard operating procedure for the process, including voting by a show of hands. Councillors cast their votes verbally, by announcing and signing after each vote.
