A notorious history-sheeter, Raja, also known as "Seizing Raja," was gunned down in a police encounter in Chennai's Akkarai area in the early hours of Monday, September 23. 

According to Chennai Police officials, the encounter occurred during an operation to apprehend Raja, who had a long history of criminal activities. Further details regarding the encounter are awaited.

Gangster 'Seizing' Raja, who was arrested in Andhra Pradesh in connection with the BSP chief Armstrong's murder case, was killed in crossfire while trying to escape police custody en route to Chennai.

This marks the third encounter in the Armstrong murder case. Armstrong's murder in July led to the death of prime suspect Thiruvengadam (33), a known history-sheeter, who was also shot dead in a police encounter. Notorious gangster 'Kakkathoppe' Balaji, in his late 40s, was similarly killed in an encounter last Wednesday.
