India has surpassed China's death tally of COVID-19 deaths as  175  casualties were reported in the last 24 hours. Till now, 4,706 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in India. Meanwhile, China has not reported any death from the disease since the past one month. In China, 4,634 people have lost their lives so far. While China was the first country to report disease last December and recorded over 84,000 total cases so far, India that reported its first case in January end, now has 1,65,799 cases that is more than Turkey's (1,60,979).

Maharashtra, the worst affected state by the virus, recorded 59,546 cases and over 1,982 deaths. The state recorded over 2,500 cases in the last 24 hours.Across the country, at least 69,000 patients have cured so far the recovery rate stood at 42%. India is the 9th worst-affected country in terms of the total number of COVID-19 cases, overtaking Turkey, China and Iran. Globally, the total number of COVID-19 cases nears 5,800,000 while the death toll crossed 360,000, as per the latest data from Johns Hopkins University. The United States, the worst affected country in the world, recorded over 1.7 Million cases of COVID-19.
