The Corona Crisis has claimed millions of lives across the country. Many people have lost their loved ones while many have become unemployed. But the biggest crisis has fallen on thousands of children. In the country from March 2020 till date, 1742 children have lost both parents due to covid. While 7,464 children have lost one of their parent.
The Supreme Court had ordered to do something for the children orphaned due to covid, to take care of them. The Center gave these figures before the Supreme Court today. The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has sought financial assistance for the upbringing and future of these children.
The Supreme Court is set to hear the case of children orphaned due to covid today. At the time, the government told the court that since March 2020, 1742 children have lost their parents and 7464 children have lost at least one parent.
In Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, 10,000 children and minors have tested positive for corona within a month. Sachin Solat, a member of the Pediatric Task Force, said there was no big warning. Cases of covid in childres is 11.5 percent more than adolescents, which is not uncommon.
Corona third wave is feared to be the most dangerous for children. However, the central government says otherwise. AIIMS director Randeep Guleria said there was no evidence of this. Guleria said that in the second wave of corona, children were less infected due to covid.
So far, it seems, the third wave of corona will not infect young children. Many researchers have said that young children are at risk in the third wave of corona. However, children in the first and second waves were not affected by the corona. They were not even vaccinated. There is no evidence that this will cause them to be most infected in the third wave, Guleria said.
