India is currently dealing with a devastating second Covid-19 wave that has swept through the nation, crushing the country's health infrastructure and overburdening frontline medical workers.

In a hocking incident a 26-year-old young doctor at Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) hospital died due to Covid-19-related complications on Sunday within hours of testing positive for the virus. Dr Anas Mujahid, 26, was working at the GTB Hospital which has been converted into a covid centre. He had completed his internship after MBBS in January.

Dr. Anas Mujahid, a resident of Bhagirathi Vihar in North-East Delhi, was on duty in the OB-Gyn ward till Saturday evening. According to the Indian Express, Dr Anas Mujahid's corona report came positive at 8 pm on Saturday. He was later admitted to the hospital. However, he died at 3 pm on Sunday due to a brain hemorrhage.

Dr. Anas Mujahid's colleague Dr. Amir Sohail said that Dr. Anas Mujahid had gone to his house for Iftar on Saturday evening. He said while returning to the hotel, provided to all the doctors, Anas said he was feverish. “He decided to take a rapid antigen test at the fever clinic of the GTB hospital before going to the hotel. He tested positive for Covid-19,” Dr Sohail said. The report of this test was positive.

After the report came positive, they were sitting in the clinic when Dr Anas suddenly collapsed. We then admitted him to the casualty ward. At the time, he was not responding to treatment.  We decided to do a CT scan  revealed a massive bleeding spot in the brain. He was immediately moved to the neurological department, where he died. Sohail told HT that Dr Mujahid had not taken the vaccine shots.
