New Delhi, Nov 24 Former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu on Monday expressed his profound grief over the passing away of Bollywood superstar Dharmendra and said that his “legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched & the work he leaves behind.”

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of the distinguished actor and former Member of Parliament, Shri Dharmendra, with whom I had several close interactions over the years. His illustrious career spanned more than six decades, marked by classics like Sholay, Yaadon ki Baraat and Phool Aur Pathar, among many other blockbuster hits,” the former VP said on X.

“Dharmendra had a larger-than-life & charismatic screen presence. His extraordinary generosity of spirit, his sense of humour & his capacity to face the ups and downs of life with equanimity are attributes for which he will always be remembered. His remarkable contribution to Bollywood cinema & public service has left an indelible mark on our nation’s psyche,” he said.

The former VP further added that, “Dharmendra has, over these decades, inspired generations through his artistry, integrity, & dedication to the people. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and admirers. Shri Dharmendra’s legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched & the work he leaves behind. May his atma attain sadgati! Om Shanti!”

Earlier, PM Modi also expressed his profound grief over the passing away of Bollywood superstar Dharmendra.

“The passing of Dharmendra Ji marks the end of an era in Indian cinema. He was an iconic film personality, a phenomenal actor who brought charm and depth to every role he played. The manner in which he played diverse roles struck a chord with countless people,” PM Modi said on X.

“Dharmendra Ji was equally admired for his simplicity, humility and warmth. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with his family, friends and innumerable fans. Om Shanti,” the tweet further said.
