New Delhi, March 22 The Modi government is aggressively considering adjourning both houses of Parliament sine die on Monday, in view of complete lockdown announced by many states and attracting criticism from many quarters of not practicing what it preaches - social distancing.

Both houses will convene at 2 p.m. on Monday when the government is likely to pass the Finance Bill first. The treasury bench may also use the floor to make an appeal to people to stay indoors. Sources say that the government may adjourn both houses sine die following this.

The government has attracted criticism for running the house at a time when it is advocating social distancing and Prime Minister Modi personally making a pitch for 'janta Curfew'.

Many members like Trinamool Congress' Derek O' Brien and Aam Aadmi Party's Sanjay Singh have gone on self-quarantine after they were in close proximity to BJP member Dushyant Singh came in contact with coronavirus infected singer Kanika Kapoor and later visited Parliament.

Now, the Trinamool Congress has officially written to the Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman stating its members won't attend Parliament, given the outbreak of the disease that has so far killed at least seven people and infected 360 people in the country.
