The results of municipal corporations, district panchayats and taluka panchayats across Gujarat will be declared today, April 28, with counting of votes set to begin at 9:00 am under tight security and CCTV surveillance. Thousands of officials have been deployed across the state for the process.
There is a keen contest for control of civic bodies in major cities such as Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Jamnagar, while results in rural district and taluka panchayats are expected to shape the political landscape.
Counting is being conducted at 382 centres with 838 counting halls. Votes will be counted on 6,991 tables using EVMs. A total of 28,240 counting staff, 10,257 support staff and 33,750 security personnel have been deployed.
Gandhinagar
In Gandhinagar district, results for Kalol, Mansa and Dehgam taluka panchayats and municipalities, along with 25 district panchayat seats, will be declared. Four main counting centres have been set up, with the highest number of tables (32) at Arts College in Dehgam. Several seats, including six in Mansa taluka panchayat and four in Kalol municipality, have already been declared uncontested. Ballot papers will be counted first, followed by EVM votes.
Rajkot
In Rajkot, counting for 18 municipal wards is being carried out across six zones, with three wards in each zone counted simultaneously. Officials expect results and overall trends to become clear by the afternoon.

Ahmedabad
For Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, counting is taking place at LD Engineering College and Gujarat College, with 24 wards assigned to each centre. Candidates and their supporters began arriving at the centres early in the morning.
Vadodara
In Vadodara, elections were held for 390 local body seats with 940 candidates in the fray. Counting is being conducted at the Polytechnic College, with around 2,000 police personnel deployed.
Jamnagar
In Jamnagar, counting will cover 64 seats across 16 municipal wards, 23 district panchayat seats, 108 taluka panchayat seats and 28 seats of Sikka municipality. Counting arrangements have been made at designated centres in the city.
Kutch
In Kutch, counting will be held for 37 district panchayat seats and 51 seats of Gandhidham Municipal Corporation. Results for municipalities including Bhuj, Mandvi, Mundra and Nakhatrana will also be declared. A total of 26 seats in the district have already been decided uncontested.
Banaskantha
In Banaskantha, results will be announced for 30 district panchayat seats, 150 seats across eight taluka panchayats, and the Bhabhar-Tharad municipality. Counting is being held at centres in Tharad and Vav.
Meanwhile, in Surat, the results for 120 seats of the municipal corporation will determine the fate of 483 candidates. With higher voter turnout compared to 2021, the outcome is expected to be significant for both the ruling party and the opposition. Counting in Surat began earlier in the morning under tight security, and results are expected to be clear by noon.
