Change in school timings came into effect from Monday, April 27, asking all schools, including aided, non-aided, government, private, affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, IB, UP board and other institutions, to function from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

This order will come into effect on April 27, 2026, and will remain in force until further notice. The administration has directed all schools to strictly implement the order to protect children from the intense afternoon heat.

Severe heat continues to grip North India and the Delhi-NCR region. In most parts of NCR, high temperatures from early morning made it difficult for people to step out. As the mercury rose, residents faced discomfort throughout the day. The maximum temperature was recorded at 42.8°C, which is 5.1 degrees above normal and 0.9 degrees higher than the previous day.
