Amid tensions between India and China on the Ladakh border, there are reports of clashes between Indian and Chinese soldiers at Naku La in north Sikkim. This has led to renewed tensions between the two countries. Four Indian and 20 Chinese soldiers were injured in the clash.  Reports said the clash took place three days ago last week when the troops of the People’s Liberation Army attempted to intrude inside Indian territory.

The Indian Army troops foiled the intrusion bid and physical clashes ensued, in which soldiers from both sides were reported to be injured. Sources said no firearms were used during the clash. The situation is reported to be under control now.

It may be noted that before the standoff started at several locations in eastern Ladakh last April/May, a clash had taken place at Naku La.

The clashes came just days before the ninth round of military talks between India and China, which was held on Sunday. The marathon Corps Commander-level talks went on for nearly 16 hours and focussed on disengagement of troops from all friction points in eastern Ladakh.

It was reported that the talks, which started at around 10:30 am, ended late into the night at 2:30 am.
