A 54-year-old man died after consuming contaminated drinking water in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, reported the news agency IANS. The deceased, identified as Ramnaresh Yada, was a resident of the Bhagirathpura area and died during treatment on Thursday Morning, February 25.

Daughter of Ramnaresh Yadav, Prerna Yadav, in the initial days, he suffered from diarrhoea after being injected in his stomach. She said water filled his whole body after the infection, which was cause due to drinking contaminated water. 

"He initially suffered from diarrhoea, and later, due to a water-borne infection, infected fluid spread throughout his body. He had been admitted to the ICU for the past 15 days," said  Prerna Yadav.

Meanwhile, six people have been hospitalised after consuming contaminated food in Indore's Bhagirathpura area, which had been the epicentre of a diarrhoea outbreak caused by polluted drinking water that claimed 22 lives.

Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Rajendra Shukla said 22 persons had died in Bhagirathpura due to contaminated water and that compensation of Rs 2 lakh had been given to the families of each deceased.
