Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir (Sept. 24, 2024): Two people were killed and one critically injured in a road accident in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on Tuesday. According to reports, the incident occurred when a poll duty vehicle plunged into a gorge near Tuksan in the Gulabgarh area.

This incident took place just a day before the polling for the second phase of the assembly elections 2024. The first phase of voting was completed on September 18, with a voter turnout of 61.13 percent registered across 24 constituencies in seven districts, according to the Election Commission.

Voting for the second and third phases in Jammu and Kashmir will be held on September 25 and October 1, respectively, with vote counting scheduled for October 8.

Earlier, on September 20, three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel died, and 32 others were injured when a bus escorting them for election duty crashed in the Brell Waterhail area of Budgam district. The vehicle slipped off a hilly road and fell into a gorge, resulting in tragic casualties. Among the injured, six individuals sustained serious injuries, and the civilian driver of the bus was also hurt in the incident.
