A massive fire destroyed two hardware shops and one sweet shop in the early hours of Saturday, May 16, in Jammu and Kashmir's Akhnoor market area. According to information, goods worth lakhs were destroyed in a blaze. 

Stock materials in shops burned into ashes in a span of time, said the eyewitness. Panic spread across the locality as flames rapidly intensified and thick smoke engulfed the market area.

After the distress call to the fire brigade, firefighters reached the spot and controlled the blaze to prevent it from spreading further. No loss of life or injuries were immediately reported in the incident.  

The exact cause of the fire was not immediately known while authorities were assessing the extent of the damage.
