Ranchi, Jharkhand (October 25,2024): Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren filed his nomination papers as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the upcoming assembly elections from the Saraikela constituency.

"There is a wave in favour of the BJP across Jharkhand. BJP will win all the 81 Assembly seats. The present government in Jharkhand has never worked to stop Bangladeshi intruders. The population of Adivasis has decreased in Santhal Pargana," Soren said after filing his nomination.

Earlier, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) released a list of candidates for two seats in the upcoming Assembly polls, fielding Ganesh Mehli from Saraikella against Champai Soren and Ramsurya Munda from Khunti. On Thursday, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who also filed his nomination for the Assembly polls, criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, calling him a "Pravaasi" CM who would disappear from the state after the elections. Hemant Soren is contesting from the Barhait Assembly constituency.

In addition, Kalpana Soren, a JMM leader and the wife of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, filed her nomination as the party candidate from the Gandey Assembly constituency, where she currently serves as the representative. The JMM had previously announced its first list of 35 candidates on October 23.

On Saturday, the BJP announced its first list of 66 candidates for the Jharkhand Assembly elections, while the ruling JMM-led alliance finalized its seat-sharing arrangement. The BJP will contest 68 seats, with its allies, the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) contesting 10 seats, the Janata Dal (United) two seats, and the Lok Janshakti Party one seat. Elections for the 81 seats of the Jharkhand Assembly will be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20.
