Kolkata Fire: Massive Blaze Breaks Out At Godown; Firefighting Operations Underway

A blaze erupted at furniture godown in Kolkata on Friday, January 2026. Visuals show thick black smoke rising high into the sky. Fire department personnel are battling the blaze while a large group of locals and police officials have gathered to monitor the situation. Efforts to douse the fire are underway.

A large fire engulfed three shops and adjacent areas on Ganguly Street in Kolkata on Wednesday. Firefighters extinguished the blaze after two hours, deploying 10 fire engines.  According to fire officer Sudipto B, the fire is under control, but its cause is still unknown and forensic investigation will be required.

A local resident told ANI that the fire originated in three adjoining shops and spread to a nearby house.
