Lucknow: Two children lost their lives after a fire broke out and gutted a slum in the Vikas Nagar area on Wednesday, April 15. Lucknow DCP (East) Deeksha Sharma reported the discovery of two bodies during ongoing rescue operations. The parents of the children, who were approximately 2 years old, have been notified and are at the postmortem house as legal proceedings are underway. The bodies have been identified by the parents.

During the operations, fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot, and firefighting operations were carried out to bring the blaze under control swiftly. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also took cognisance of the incident of fire and directed officers to expedite relief operations.

A fire in the Kanawani slum area, within the Indirapuram police station limits, was reported on Thursday, April 16. Ghaziabad District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandar stated that the blaze impacted approximately 150 slum dwellings in Kanawani village, where scrap work was underway. 

Seven fire tenders were deployed, and the fire is now under control. An ambulance is on-site, and authorities will address any missing person reports, though there have been no reports of missing persons or casualties so far. Further assessment will be conducted if needed.
