A man dies, another injured after a portion of and under construction commercial building collapsed in the Vibhuti Khand areas of Lucknow. The tragedy occurred on Thursday morning triggering a multi-agency rescue operation.

As per the times of India report, incident occurred around 10 am near the NTPC building on IGP Road under the jurisdiction of Vibhuti Khand police station. Police stated that, collapse occurred during basement excavation work and loose soil and construction material caved in, trapping workers inside.

Local police, fire services, and SDRF personnel responded to the scene and launched a rescue operation. Two workers were extracted from the debris and taken to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, where Laxmi Shankar Awasthi (36) of Amauli Kiratpur, Barabanki, was pronounced dead. Tulsiram, from Bhikam Patti, Barabanki, sustained minor injuries and was discharged after treatment.

Rescuers, including fellow laborers, removed debris to reach the trapped workers. Police have notified Awasthi's family, and his body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Authorities report the situation is under control and an investigation into the collapse is underway.
