As it is the last weekend of Mahakumbh pilgrims flocked to there for a holy plunge. Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh was clogged with traffic for 25 km early on February 23. Devotees were stranded there for several hours. Mahakumbh, which began on January 13, will conclude on February 26.

On February 23, there was also a sizable gathering at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh. The railway station serves as a major entry point to the northeastern states of Bihar, Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha.

According to an official statement from the government, the world's greatest religious and cultural event has so far attracted almost 60 crore devotees who have taken a holy bath at the Triveni Sangam.

By the final "amrit snan" on February 26, more than half of India's 110 crore Sanatan devotees are anticipated to have bathed in the Triveni Sangam, according to an official statement.

In order to guarantee smooth arrangements for devotees for the last major bath on Mahashivratri, which falls on February 26, the Uttar Pradesh administration said on Friday that it has intensified preparations at Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.

It claimed that of all the religious, cultural, and social gatherings, this Mahakumbh had the highest turnout.

Along with numerous foreign visitors, diplomats from 73 nations have taken a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, including King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan.

Nearly 8 crore devotees participated in the holy dip on Mauni Amavasya, which had the largest attendance, and about 3.5 crore bathed during the Amrit Snan on Makar Sankranti.
