Hazaribagh, April 27 In a tragic road accident in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district on Monday, a mother and her son lost their lives on the spot after the car they were travelling in rammed into a stationary Hyva truck parked along the roadside. Two other members of the family sustained critical injuries in the crash.

According to police and local sources, the incident occurred under the Muffasil police station limits when the family of Mahavir Prasad was returning from a wedding ceremony in Patna. During the journey, their vehicle collided with the rear end of a Hyva truck that had been stationed on the roadside.

The impact of the collision was extremely severe, leaving the front portion of the car completely mangled and trapping the occupants inside. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud, explosion-like sound at the time of the crash, indicating the intensity of the impact.

Upon receiving information, Muffasil police station incharge Roshan Kumar rushed to the scene along with his team. Local villagers also joined the rescue efforts. Due to the extent of the damage, rescuers had to cut open parts of the vehicle to extricate those trapped inside.

All four victims were immediately rushed to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH). However, doctors declared Vidya Devi and her son Chandan Kumar dead on arrival.

The two injured, identified as Mahavir Prasad and Ankita Devi, were provided initial treatment before being referred to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for advanced care. According to family members, both remain in critical condition.

Police have seized the damaged car and the Hyva truck involved in the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding or the driver possibly dozing off at the wheel may have led to the crash. However, officials said that the exact cause will be ascertained after a detailed investigation.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
