Noida Traffic Update: Workers’ Protest Block Chilla Border Connecting Delhi, Stone Pelting Reported (Watch Videos)
Private factory workers are protesting on the Chilla Border connecting Delhi and Noida. The employees of a company in Noida Phase 2 have blocked the road, and during the protest, vehicles and properties were damaged, and stone pelting took place. Hundreds of workers from the hosiery and garment units had gathered to demand better wages. The traffic movement was severely affected, and the Delhi police issued a traffic advisory to control the vehicular movement. Delphi Police posted the advisory on X and appealed that the vehicles intending to go to Noida may use DND from Sarai Kale Khan, or alternatively use NH 24 - Kondli Bridge and enter Noida through Noida Mod.

The employees are demanding a salary hike. A protester speaking with ANI said that they barely earn Rs 11000 to Rs 12000. Running a household is impossible on this salary. He also said that when they go and buy products in the market, they pay the same amount as a man who earns 50000 pays for the goods. He questioned whether the ones earning thousands of rupees and the protestors who barely earn a salary pay different amounts for the same products. The protester also said that the salary amount of Rs 10,000, which consists 80% of the bonuses that we have earned, and then there are a lot of deductions like Provident Fund.

Other protesters also opined the same and said that running a household is difficult for them with the remuneration they earn. They stated that out of Rs 10000 to Rs 12000, they earn, they have to pay Rs 4000 for a gas cylinder and Rs 4000 for house rent. They also questioned how they would pay for other expenses with the remaining amount.
As the employees were protesting and demanding a pay hike, traffic movement was severely affected in the region. The protest was initially very peaceful, but as the crowd increased, the protestors gathered and blocked the street. The protest spiralled after protesters allegedly began pelting stones. This led to damaging several vehicles that were parked or present at that time in the locality. Clashes broke out when police attempted to restrain the crowd, triggering stone-pelting, reported Money Control. A vehicle was also torched during the protest.
