Six people were killed and two others were injured after a speeding truck collided with a tempo carrying passengers near Lekhan Tola under the Bihta police station in Bihar's Patna on Tuesday night, February 1. The crash occurred at around 2 am when the truck struck the auto-rickshaw with such force that it was destroyed on impact.

Five people died on the spot, while one more victim succumbed to injuries during treatment. Two others remain in a critical condition and are receiving treatment in the hospital. All the victims were residents of Ara.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Imtiaz (30), Mohammad Guddu (32), Mohammad Sehjad (22), Safan (1), Alfi (2), and Mohammad Sajjad, who died in the hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the passengers were returning to Ara after attending the Urs at Maner Dargah when the speeding truck hit their auto-rickshaw near Lekhan Tola. Locals rushed to the spot to help the victims before police arrived.

A team from Bihta police station reached the site, sent the bodies for post-mortem and admitted the injured to the hospital. The truck has been seized and a search is underway for the absconding driver.
