Mumbai, May 15 With an eye on all six Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a mega roadshow in the Ghatkopar area. PM Modi was accompanied by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his deputy Devendra Fadnavis during the roadshow.

The 2.5-km roadshow started from Ashok Silk Mill in Ghatkopar West and concluded at Parshwanath Chowk in Ghatkopar East, which is a part of Mumbai North East constituency.

PM Modi paid tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji statue prior to commencing the roadshow.

The police had barricaded the entire route of the roadshow.

PM Modi campaigned for BJP nominee Mihir Kotecha who is pitted against the Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Sanjay Patil from Mumbai North East.

Numerous BJP supporters and city residents lined up on both sides of the road, showered flower petals, raised slogans, and also danced and sang wearing traditional clothes.

Some people performed Dhol Tasha and Lezim.

A gathering of women in sarees led the procession ahead of PM Modi's vehicle, symbolising the 'Nari Shakti'.

The BJP and the Shiv Sena hope to cash in on Wednesday's roadshow to bag all six seats in Mumbai.

The BJP has fielded Union Minister Piyush Goyal against Congress nominee Bhushan Patil from Mumbai North, prominent lawyer Ujjwal Nikam against Congress' Varsha Gaikwad from Mumbai North Central while Kotecha is locked in a direct fight against Shiv Sena (UBT) nominee Sanjay Patil from Mumbai North East.

CM Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has fielded party legislator Yamini Jadhav against Shiv Sena (UBT) nominee Arvind Sawant in Mumbai South, sitting MP Rahul Shewale against Shiv Sena (UBT) nominee Anil Desai from Mumbai South Central and party legislator Ravindra Waikar against Shiv Sena (UBT) nominee Amol Kirtikar from Mumbai North West.

Earlier, the Mumbai Traffic Police had made comprehensive arrangements for commuters during PM Modi's event, urging the citizens and travellers to plan their journeys accordingly and use alternate routes to reach their desired destinations.
